SAGATRANS organizes from A to Z the transport of a rotor and two half stators in an Italian hydroelectric power station

The SAGATRANS office of Bettignies (France) was selected by the ASS group (leader in manufacturing for electrical equipment and mechanical components for use in the energy production) to handle the transport of a 90 Tons rotor and of two half 35 Tons stators, from the manufactory located North East of France to Italy. Those elements were to replace used ones in Italy.

Logistics study

To transport such structures, the logistician upstream and downstream work is primordial. Since September 2004, signature of the contract, the experts from SAGATRANS studied very precociously each stage of the transport in France and in Italy.

The pieces travelled through villages where street were so tight that only few centimetres were left to manoeuvre. They also had to climb mountains via curvy roads where turns had to be taken very carefully.

SAGATRANS also dismantled on the site the pieces to replace using a turtle* (see picture) and then took them to destruction area.

The full operation ended successfully when the new pieces were settled on site thanks to the know-how and expertise of the SAGATRANS professionals.
